¿Quién es el coordinador?
Me llamo el Señor Tyler Petrini.
If you are reading this, you know enough about me to trust me with your child's world language education and safety/security, so I will spare you the basic info. As far as relevant detalles are concerned...
1. Amo México. I lived there (specifically the Yucatan peninsula) for several months in college, and I have traveled there over a dozen times. I am very fond of Mérida (one of the cities we are visiting), and I have always wanted to travel to Mexico City. Mi esposa taunts me with its greatness every time that she travels there for work.
2. I have organized and led three successful field trips since starting in Howard County in 2008 - all domestic. I joke with my colleagues and friends that if I weren't a teacher, I would be an event planner, as I am very purposeful, thoughtful, and detail-oriented with my planning.
3. I firmly believe that the most effective strategy for learning the target language is immersing oneself in the culture pertaining to said language, so visiting a Spanish-speaking country (even for a short time) is the best possible way to learn!
4. The content I teach and discuss in Advanced Special Topics will come alive through the travel itinerary I have chosen. We will be visiting Frida Kahlo's childhood home; we will be touring an indigenous Mayan school; and we will be focusing our attention on the indigenous background of Mexico.
