¿Qué tal?10.12.18
I am teaming up with a colleague from Long Reach HS to promote the travel opportunities available to high school students in 2019. Our first (and my final) interest meeting occurs on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 (tomorrow!) at 5:00 p.m. in the Howard HS cafeteria (changed from Media Center). This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the two international trips offered between now and the end of the upcoming summer. We hope to see you there! 25.10.18 I negotiated with the World Strides trip consultant to release ANOTHER discount code to assist those of you who might have missed the first enrollment discount deadline and who still wanted to save some dinero. -Go Online to www.worldstrides.com/enroll -Input the following information: TOUR CENTER ID: Petrini-8342 -Use FallFun as voucher code for $200 off! 19.10.18 A big gracias to those of you who stopped by the "mesa mexicana" last night during HOHS' World Language & Culture Fest! It was a fabulous event, and I received a lot of interest in the trip. With only a handful of spots left, NOW is the time to enroll! 9.10.18 I just discovered this article about Mexico's rise in popularity over the past few years: www.travelpulse.com/news/destinations/mexico-jumps-to-sixth-on-most-visited-country-list.html Soooooooo excited to travel with you all to such a fascinating tourist destination....and not be total turistas! 2.10.18 Do not fret about the posted deadline for the $350 discount. If you truly need a few extra days to make the decision about enrollment, you can contact Maureen Bannister to see what World Strides can do. 28.9.18 A few great questions were asked the other night during our second interest meeting. Here is what I have confirmed: On the topic of hotels, the students are put in triples (sometimes quads depending on the hotel) – student’s will not share beds on WorldStrides trips. On the topic of bottled water, bottled water is provided in the hotel rooms On the topic of college prep credit, three free college preparatory credits are included with all our Perspectives International Travel Programs. This is a great differentiator for students when applying to college. For many of our other programs (non-Perspective programs), college credit is also included at varying levels. High school students seeking college preparatory credit can refer to the Discovery for Credit section of MyTrip for exact details on the credits available for your specific travel program and any applicable fees. All college credit transcripts are issued through our university partner, University of California – San Diego Extension. Please note, students traveling on a non-science based international program need to call 800-468-5899 or email [email protected] for academic credit information. College students—please refer to your online registration website for additional information on what is included in your program. Here is another helpful link that should address any questions. On the topic of security, the safety and security of our students and teachers are our #1 priority. We’ve been doing this for over 50 years and over 4 million students have travelled with us. You and the students are covered by a $50 million liability policy, our tour directors are experts, and we have a 24/7 emergency contact line to assist our travelers with any problem, anywhere, anytime. 23.9.18 Mi esposa just returned from a business trip to La Ciudad de México, and she did some reconnaissance for us. I am excited to share her observations and suggestions! 19.9.18 To provide an opportunity for those unable to attend the first interest meeting to hear about the planned spring break trip to México AND to clarify any details for those who already attended a meeting, I have reserved a meeting room in the Elkridge Branch Library on Wednesday, September 26th. Please meet at 6:00 p.m. in the Belmont Room of the library for a 30 - 60 minute presentation/discussion. Keep in mind that the next day - September 27 - is the deadline for the $300 early enrollment discount, so this will be the last "interest" meeting before we start to solidify trip details and begin the official enrollment period. I hope to see you there! 18.9.18 A few changes were made to the itinerary today: -The Xochimilco excursion was formally added to the itinerary. -The Casa Azul excursion was formally added to the itinerary. -The dates of departure and return were pushed back by one day. The new trip period is April 15 to April 21. As a result of these changes, the price of the trip increases by $20 / person. Considering how involved (and amazing) both excursions are, this increase is quite minimal. I will post an updated itinerary on the website as soon as i receive it! 16.9.18 Tomorrow is the first interest meeting for the spring trip to Mexico! Please meet at 6:00 p.m. in the Hockley Room of the Elkridge Branch Library. Come with questions, with curiosidad, and with any amigos or familiares that might want to hear about this amazing opportunity. And if you cannot make the meeting, no te preocupes. I will post some resources on this site to ensure that everyone is on the same page for the next meeting. ¡Hasta mañana! 15.9.18 I gave out so many packets yesterday! This is exciting for so many reasons, mainly because if we hit 20 participants, we receive PRIVATE tours of all of the stops on the itinerary! I think we can do it! 13.9.18 The information packets for the trip have arrived! Come by my classroom (A107) to pick one up! 8.9.18 I am in the exploratory phase of arranging a trip to México in the spring. This site will contain all of the updates related to the trip to ensure that interested students and parents can receive relevant information pertaining to the planning and execution of la aventura.
